Manufacture of Fiber Optics

Radyne offers fiber optics manufacturing for a variety of systems including power supplies and other equipment.
Fiber optics are manufactured by heating a susceptor to an elevated temperature. This is to heat a large bar/rod of quartz used to make the fibers, known as a preform.
Induction heating allows a clean means of sustaining the temperature of the preform, softening the glass. The larger starter end is connected to a puller and the fiber is “drawn” through the induction heat zone at a controlled rate to produce the required diameter.
